Why this role matters: As a Staff Electronics Engineer - Avionics, you’ll define and drive the technical direction of ICEYE’s spacecraft electronics, owning mission-critical systems end-to-end while shaping how we design, scale, and deliver high-reliability satellite hardware.

Your day-to-day responsibilities

  • Lead the design, development, validation, and qualification of high-reliability mixed-signal electronics for satellite systems
  • Own critical avionics systems end-to-end, from concept through design, testing, and in-orbit support
  • Drive technical direction, engineering standards, and best practices across hardware teams
  • Coordinate complex, cross-functional development projects across engineering disciplines
  • Use data, testing, and industry insights to guide architectural decisions and improve system performance
  • Anticipate future platform needs and define scalable hardware and development approaches
  • Perform hands-on lab work, including bring-up, debugging, root-cause analysis, and validation
  • Mentor engineers and elevate engineering capability across the organization

What are we looking for Must haves:

  • 10+ years of experience in electronics engineering in fast-paced or mission-critical environments
  • Proven experience leading complex, cross-functional hardware projects with broad organizational impact
  • Strong expertise in board-level design, including schematics, PCB layout, simulation, bring-up, and validation
  • Strong hands-on experience with laboratory and system-level measurements using advanced test equipment
  • Proven ability to troubleshoot and resolve complex system-level issues using data-driven approaches
  • Ability to guide architectural decisions and balance performance, reliability, cost, and manufacturability
  • Strong communication skills in English with ability to influence both technical and non-technical stakeholders
  • Ability to work independently while mentoring and supporting other engineers

Nice to haves:

  • Degree in Electrical Engineering or related field
  • Experience with Python and scripting in Linux environments
  • Experience in aerospace or other high-reliability industries
  • Understanding of on-orbit challenges such as radiation, thermal behavior, and continuous operation
