Job description

This isn’t your regular job. Almedia is a place where those who want to push harder can accelerate their careers faster than anywhere else. We’re aiming to become Germany’s second bootstrapped unicorn. Almedia is already Europe’s #3 fastest-growing company in 2025 (FT1000).

We are building the future of marketing by rewarding our community of over 80 million users for engaging with our advertisers’ products. We are offering a new way to acquire users for the biggest companies in the world.

VP of Engineering Berlin, Onsite

What Makes This Role Exciting

  • Own engineering end to end (execution, quality, reliability, and people), reporting to our CTO at Almedia, Germany's fastest-growing company by YoY revenue.
  • Shape a lean, high-performing team with AI as core to the way the team ships.
  • Get engineers onto the highest-impact work, with a shared way of prioritising alongside Product and Design.

Your Mission

  • Partner with the executive team, Product, and Design to turn ideas into experiments and successful releases.
  • Make AI-native workflows the default, cutting the time from hypothesis to live experiment to decision, so more experiments reach customers without more defects.
  • Build a QA function that prevents defects and keeps the site reliably up, with the authority to surface release risk early.
  • Build the leadership bench and engineering culture that let the org keep compounding.

What You Bring

  • Hands-on leader, strong in JavaScript/TypeScript, who writes and reviews code. This is how everyone operates here, starting with our CTO.
  • Already rethought how a team works with AI and shipped faster because of it.
  • Bonus: React Native, Python, data pipelines.

Your Track Record

  • Scaled engineering organisations through significant business growth, developing engineering managers.
  • Led Frontend, Backend, and Reliability functions, and know how to design the operating model that lets them move together at speed.
  • Partnered closely with Product and Design, turning business priorities into a shared roadmap.
  • Know how to connect engineering decisions to business outcomes, not just delivery metrics.
