Transforming the Future of Money Movement Enabling Embedded Finance for the World’s Leading Brands Marqeta is seeking an Assistant General Counsel, Corporate to join its senior Corporate Legal team. This role is central to Marqeta’s public company operations, responsible for leading SEC reporting, corporate governance, and board support. As the right hand to the Deputy General Counsel, the Assistant General Counsel will own core SEC reporting workstreams, drive governance processes, and serve as the primary drafter for proxy statements and related disclosures. This is a specialized position for an experienced securities and governance attorney who thrives on translating complex legal requirements into practical guidance for executive leadership. The role involves direct responsibility for quarterly and annual SEC filings, oversight of Section 16 reporting, and coordination of all proxy and shareholder meeting materials. The Assistant General Counsel will also support the Board of Directors and its committees, prepare legal memos and board materials, and manage insider trading compliance and equity programs. The ideal candidate brings 10–15 years of focused legal experience in public company securities, SEC disclosure, and corporate governance, with hands-on expertise drafting SEC filings and supporting board operations. Strong written communication, independent judgment, and the ability to manage multiple high-stakes workstreams are essential. Experience in technology, fintech, or payments is a plus.
