Job description

Who we are

Sapien is the engine behind the world’s most important companies. We build agents that learn how a business works from its financial and operational data: its language, operations, and economics. That understanding helps people find opportunities, make better decisions, and act. We work with complex businesses, from manufacturers and restaurant groups to the Fortune 500. Teams at companies including Bayer, Cooper Standard, Blink Charging, Carlex, and Odeko use Sapien to understand their businesses and improve how they run. Our ambition is to build the self-optimizing company by making its people and systems dramatically more capable. We’re headquartered by Madison Square Park in NYC, with $15M+ raised and backing from General Catalyst, Neo, and operators from OpenAI, Google, Microsoft, Ramp, and Stripe. We’re bringing together AI researchers, engineers, and operators to build intelligence for the people who build everything else.

The role

Every wave of enterprise software created a new kind of operator. On-prem had implementation managers. SaaS had solutions engineers. Agentic AI demands people who can deploy intelligence: learn how a business actually works, identify the decisions that matter, and help its teams put AI to work. That’s this role. You’ll be the bridge between Sapien and the finance and operations teams we serve, learning their workflows and helping them use Sapien to make better decisions. Deployment is only half of it. You’ll bring what you learn in the field back to sales, product, engineering, and the founders so every customer makes Sapien better. If you’ve watched a team spend days assembling an answer instead of acting on it, and thought “there has to be a better way,” we built this role for you.

What you’ll own

Customer Deployments

  • Own customer implementations end-to-end: scoping, workflow mapping, deployment, training, and optimization. You are the reason a customer succeeds.
  • Embed with finance and operations teams (CFOs, FP&A, analysts, and operators) to learn how they actually operate, then transform those workflows onto Sapien.
  • Build and improve the deployment playbook: repeatable frameworks for onboarding, integrating, and scaling Sapien across organizations.

Cross-Functional Impact & Strategy

  • Arm the sales team with what you learn in the field, including real customer pain points, objections, success stories, and the language CFOs actually use, so every deal benefits from every deployment.
  • Work directly with engineering to set the product roadmap: translate real financial and operational workflows into product requirements, stress-test new features, and push for what customers actually need.
  • Spot patterns across deployments that shape where the product and GTM motion go next.
  • Partner with the founders on customer materials, internal strategy, and high-priority initiatives.

What we’re looking for

  • Finance and operating background. 2–6 years in banking, PE, consulting, or a similarly analytical role. You know your way around financial statements, operating metrics, and corporate finance.
  • Strong in front of customers. You can hold a room with a CFO. You listen more than you talk, build trust quickly, and turn vague concerns into concrete next steps.
  • You build systems, not just deliverables. When you solve a problem, you make sure it stays solved. You leave behind processes, not just outputs.
  • AI-native. You use AI tools every day. You pick up new tech faster than anyone around you and you can't help but show others how to use it too.
  • High agency. You don't wait for a brief. You figure out what needs to happen and you go do it, with attention to detail that holds up under scrutiny.

How you work (values we care about)

  • AI-native. You’re energized by applying AI to transform how businesses run.
  • Ambiguity-shaping. You turn nebulous problems into a first pass and drive to resolution.
  • Extreme ownership. You identify what’s next—and do it. If you say it, it gets done.
  • Speed & hustle. You bias to action and move with urgency without sacrificing quality.

Why work at Sapien

  • Culture: Values ownership (end-to-end ownership of research, product, and customer work), inquisitiveness (always pushing for the "why" and "so what"), and adaptability (solving different, harder problems). The team is described as "talent-dense" and sits at the intersection of complex AI research, beautifully simple product, and high-impact use cases.
  • Work Policy: On-site in New York City (NYC). All open roles are listed as on-site/full-time.
  • Notable Perks/Engineering Culture: Engineers own key aspects of research, product, and customer work end-to-end. The company builds systems that understand context, adapt in real time, and help teams make sharper decisions. Open-ended problem scopes are a core part of the day-to-day.
