Our primary technology, supporting our ATARS product, enables pilots to simulate the cognitive challenges of flying while accessing realistic, scalable training in dynamic outdoor environments.
Job Summary
Red 6 is hiring a Director of Business Development to lead its Navy portfolio. This role will be based in Orlando, FL. We are seeking a dynamic, mission-focused leader who will drive Navy customer engagement and the company’s Navy strategy and growth. The ideal candidate is a former senior Navy officer with business development, pilot training, and modeling & simulation experience.
Key Responsibilities
- Develop and execute a comprehensive Navy BD strategy that aligns with corporate growth goals.
- Shape and influence requirements early in the acquisition cycle to align with Red 6’s capabilities.
- Manage the full BD lifecycle: opportunity identification, capture strategy, proposal support, and contract transition.
- Establish and maintain trusted relationships with Navy decision-makers, industry partners, and integrators.
- Collaborate cross-functionally with product, engineering, marketing, and leadership teams to ensure customer success.
- Deliver weekly staff updates and quarterly progress reports.
- Contribute to the evolution of BD processes, including CRM, formal capture, and proposal workflows.
Required Skills and Experience:
- 5+ years in a business development leadership role
- 20+ years in the U.S. Navy, preferably retired Commander rank or higher
- Background in modeling & simulation, flight training, or LVC systems strongly preferred
- Demonstrated success in capturing large-scale Navy contracts, preferably in emerging tech or training domains.
- Strong knowledge of Navy acquisition programs, POM processes, and contracting vehicles (e.g., SBIR, OTA, IDIQ).
- Exceptional communication and presentation skills.
- Strategic thinking and execution in military BD environments
- Customer mapping and stakeholder engagement
- Business case development and opportunity shaping
- Familiarity with Shipley capture methodology
- Proposal management in both SBIR and traditional FAR-based processes
- Relationship building with DoD acquisition offices and primes
- General technical fluency with AR, XR, and LVC systems (no expert-level required, but must understand and communicate the technology clearly)
- Qualified candidates must have the ability to obtain a security clearance. This requires U.S. Citizenship.
