Urschel, a 100% employee-owned company, is seeking a dedicated and service-focused hospitality leader to join the team at Grand Gardner Hotel as Housekeeper. The Grand Gardner Hotel is an Urschel Development property located in Downtown Valparaiso, IN. Urschel Development is a fully owned subsidiary of Urschel Laboratories located in Chesterton, Indiana.

This independent boutique hotel is located on a quiet, tree-lined street just steps away from downtown Valparaiso. Designed to feel welcoming to both guests and employees, it features 58 rooms and suites, a speakeasy, banquets space, and inviting shared spaces. This is a place built on teamwork, hands-on training, and growth. Pay Range: $14.84/hour - $18.00 per hour depending on experience

The Housekeeper is responsible for maintaining the impeccable aesthetic and cleanliness of guest rooms and public areas, ensuring every visitor experiences a pristine and welcoming environment. This role involves the thorough cleaning of guest suites according to exacting standards, including stripping and remaking beds with fresh linens, vacuuming, dusting, and sanitizing bathrooms. Housekeepers are also responsible for replenishing guest amenities, managing their individual carts, and identifying any maintenance issues or safety hazards. Throughout their shift, Housekeepers act as ambassadors of the hotel, employing the "S.E.A.C." method to provide warm and professional interactions with guests in hallways and common spaces.

The ideal candidate is a proactive and detail-oriented individual with a strong commitment to the high standards of a luxury boutique environment. Physical stamina is essential, as the role requires the ability to stand and walk for up to 10 hours, lift up to 50 pounds, and perform repetitive movements such as bending, kneeling, and reaching to ensure every corner of the property is guest-ready. Candidates must be able to follow specific chemical safety protocols and bloodborne pathogen procedures while working efficiently to meet daily room turn requirements. A professional demeanor, punctual attendance, and the ability to work both independently and as part of a collaborative team are required.
