Your Role

As a Principal Software Engineer, you will be the structural engineer behind our high-voltage battery system software. You will bridge the gap between system requirements and the implementation in code, defining the static and dynamic architecture to ensure our systems are safe, secure and scalable. You will play a central role in advancing our software development by defining the technical vision, our processes and coding guidelines. You will not only design the blueprint but also guide the engineering team through implementation and while always keeping the bigger picture in mind.

Your Future Tasks at a Glance

  • Define static architectures (modularization, layering, interfaces) and dynamic architectures (scheduling, concurrency, inter-core communication)
  • Define and monitor system resources, such as CPU load budgets, and stack usage.
  • Drive and enforce coding guidelines and workflows to standardize code quality across the team.
  • Develop architectural strategies for functional safety (ISO26262), including error handling concepts and safe-state management, as well as cybersecurity (ISO21434).
  • Hands-on Implementation: Develop critical components and maintain ownership.
  • Ensure full traceability from requirements to architecture and code.
  • Lead architectural code reviews to ensure implementation aligns with the design and quality standards.

What you bring with you

  • Successfully completed a university degree in an engineering field (software, robotics, electronics, mechanical), math, or applied physics.
  • 7+ years of hands-on experience as a software engineer and 2+ years of experience as architect or lead engineer.
  • Demonstrated expertise in designing complex embedded software architectures, utilizing modern design patterns and UML modeling (static and dynamic views).
  • Experience establishing processes, coding standards, and review workflows in a regulated environment.
  • Strong background in C++ and C, with deep knowledge of microcontrollers and relevant tools (AURIX Tricore, TI Hercules, NXP S32). Other languages (Python, Rust, Groovy) are a plus.
  • Ability to translate complex physical system requirements into robust computational models and software solutions across the whole software stack.
  • Familiarity with aligning safety critical regulated development processes with moderen software development practices.
  • Ability to communicate technical concepts clearly to both management and developers.
  • Creative mindset and a strong passion for innovative electronic solutions in the battery industry.
  • Strong team collaboration skills and excellent communication abilities in English.
