XYZ Reality at a glance

Engineering-grade AR for construction: a hardhat that shows the design on site to millimeter accuracy, plus a platform to catch errors before they get built.

XYZ Reality builds the Atom, a construction hardhat with an augmented-reality visor that overlays 3D BIM models onto a live site at roughly 5mm accuracy, so field engineers can spot clashes and errors before they get built. Around the headset sits a cloud platform for project controls, quality assurance, and progress tracking, sold as a managed service to mission-critical builders like data-center and pharmaceutical developers.

ABOUT XYZ REALITY

────────────────────────────── XYZ Reality are the creators of the world's first and only engineering-grade Augmented Reality solution, purpose built for the construction industry. Not only have we created this holographic technology, that sits within The Atom — a smart, site-safe headset/hardhat — but we implement it on projects, utilising the power of AR to ensure that all schemes are completed in line with delivery timescales and budgets.

XYZ has grown to over 100 staff across the UK, US & Europe and is working with Mission Critical organisations & construction companies to successfully deliver major projects.

THE ROLE

────────────────────────────── This role sits within the Production team at our NPI facility in Reading, Berkshire, reporting to the Senior Production Engineer.

As Production Assembly & Test Engineer, you will carry out hands-on assembly of XYZ's AR devices combined with in-process and final test and calibration. The role spans build and verification — assembling to SOP standards, then carrying out the calibration and test that releases product to customers.

You'll also contribute to documentation, quality processes and goods-in inspection, playing a key part in ensuring every Atom device that leaves our facility meets XYZ's exacting standards.

KEY RESPONSIBILITIES

──────────────────────────────

  • Assemble the full range of XYZ AR devices to SOP and specification, including robot calibration and configuration processes that set the accuracy of our AR devices.
  • Perform in-process and final test to defined acceptance criteria, releasing product under the QMS; maintain calibration records and support the calibration register for production test equipment.
  • Record test and calibration results accurately against serial numbers; support software and firmware installation and verification during assembly and test.
  • Identify, record and escalate non-conforming product through the NCR process; support fault-finding, repair and rework on returned and failed units.
  • Create and maintain SOPs and work instructions for assembly, test and calibration processes under the QMS, keeping documentation current as processes and engineering changes are made.
  • Support goods-in inspection to acceptance criteria alongside the Logistics and Warehousing Coordinator.

REQUIRED QUALIFICATIONS

──────────────────────────────

  • Hands-on assembly experience on complex electro-mechanical products.
  • Test, calibration and measurement experience — ideally including automated or robotic calibration equipment.
  • Ability to write, follow and improve test procedures, SOPs and acceptance criteria.
  • Right to work in the UK without sponsorship.

KEY EXPERIENCE & SKILLS

──────────────────────────────

  • Fault-finding and debugging skills across both electronics and mechanical assemblies.
  • Comfortable with command-line tools and with software and firmware installation.
  • Understanding of calibration control and traceability requirements.
  • Accurate record-keeping and genuine attention to detail — a high-quality output matters to you personally.
  • Good IT skills including MS Office.
  • Comfortable working to QMS standards in a structured, process-driven production environment.

BENEFITS

────────────────────────────── 🏝️ 25 days annual leave + public holidays 🩺 Private healthcare with Vitality 🎄 Christmas shutdown days on top of leave allowance (2–4 per year usually) 🪙 Biannual salary reviews 🥳 Summer & Christmas staff parties 💰 Employee referral scheme 🚲 Cycle to Work scheme 🚀 Make a real-world impact of revolutionising the construction industry
