Job description

About Adelphi

Adelphi's Vision is to build the biggest AI Deployment company for National Security, which requires talent that is extremely good at problem solving, gets excited about National Security challenges, and thrives in software factories. We're executing a Mission that (1) Identifies the core bottlenecks in Warfighting, Intelligence and the Enterprise, (2) Assigns top talent with backgrounds in systems and machine learning engineering, and (3) Finds repeatability in solution development to target similar offices across the DoW/IC. The business has 10x'd in under two years and has built trust with the senior most leaders at the Department of War and Intelligence Community.

About the role

We're looking for a Recruiter to own hiring end to end, working directly with our Head of Talent. Adelphi is a small, fast-moving startup building AI-native software for defense and national security customers, and we are growing across engineering and the business. You'll run full-cycle recruiting for technical and non-technical roles, from the first sourcing message to a signed offer. This is a hands-on role with real ownership from day one, and you'll have a hand in building how we hire as the company grows. Location: Washington, DC/McLean, VA metro area but Remote within the US OK

What you'll do

  • Own full-cycle recruiting for technical roles (forward deployed engineers, software engineers, ML engineers) and non-technical roles across the business
  • Source passive candidates through outbound outreach, referrals and your own network, and build pipelines for the roles we hire for on a rolling basis
  • Run intro calls that tell the Adelphi story well and give candidates a clear picture of the role and the interview process
  • Partner with hiring managers on intake, calibration, interview loops and timely feedback
  • Keep our ATS (Ashby) accurate and current so pipeline, stage and scheduling data is something we can rely on
  • Manage scheduling and candidate communication so every candidate has a great experience, whatever the outcome
  • Close candidates: run the offer process with the Head of Talent and keep candidates warm through to their start date
  • Help build the recruiting function: process, templates, employer brand and our referral program

What you'll bring

  • 5+ years of full-cycle recruiting experience, ideally in-house at a startup or fast-growing company
  • A track record hiring software, ML engineers & Forward Deployed Engineers, plus experience with non-technical roles across a business
  • Strong sourcing skills and real comfort with cold outreach to passive candidates
  • The ability to sell a role, read a candidate and close an offer
  • High ownership. You run your reqs end to end and don't wait to be asked.
  • Clear, warm written communication and attention to detail in everything candidate-facing
  • Experience hiring for cleared roles or in defense tech is a plus

Why work at Adelphi

  • Mission-Driven Impact: Work on a critical national security problem – enabling secure, fast data sharing across the Intelligence Community and defense organizations.
  • Small, High-Growth Team: 7 employees with 83% headcount growth in the last year; new hires will have significant ownership and influence.
  • Talent & Culture: The team includes veterans from heavy regulated industries (Datavant, Reflexive Concepts, Equinix, etc.) who are "re-envisioning how secure data sharing can better unlock intelligence organizations' capabilities." linkedin.com/company/adelphi-data
  • Work Environment: Headquarters in New York. Remote/hybrid policy not specified (likely flexible for the right candidates). Roles currently open include Senior Machine Learning Engineer, Senior Software Engineer, and Senior Product Manager. jobs.ashbyhq.com/adelphi-ai
  • Technical Focus: Emphasis on cutting-edge AI, confidential computing, and secure distributed systems – a strong fit for engineers interested in applied cryptography, data infrastructure, and national security technology.
