Job description
YOUR MISSION & CHALLENGES
We are looking for a passionate and hands-on Software Engineer in Test to join our Humanoid 4NE1 team. In this role, you will own the development of scalable test infrastructure, automation frameworks, and validation strategies that ensure the reliability, performance, and safety of software powering our humanoid robots.
You will work closely with Software Engineers, Middleware Engineers, Perception Engineers, and Robotics Developers to build robust testing and validation pipelines across the entire robotics stack- from embedded devices and middleware services to perception, motion control, and autonomous behavior.
This role goes beyond traditional QA. We are looking for an engineer who can understand complex robotic systems, identify failure modes, build automated validation frameworks, and contribute code directly to improve system robustness and developer productivity.
Your work will directly impact the reliability of robots operating in real-world environments and help establish engineering quality standards across the 4NE1 software platform.

- Strong software engineering fundamentals with experience building automated test systems
- Experience working with distributed software systems, middleware, or robotic platforms
- Ability to collaborate closely with perception, controls, infrastructure, and platform engineering teams
- Strong debugging mindset and systems-level thinking
- Strong programming skills in C++ and Python
- Experience developing automated testing frameworks and tooling
- Deep understanding of software testing methodologies (unit, integration, system, regression, end-to-end testing)
- Experience with ROS2, DDS, or distributed robotics middleware architectures
- Understanding of robotic systems including:
- Sensor integration
- Calibration workflows
- Synchronization
- State estimation
- Motion control systems
- Experience debugging complex interactions across software, hardware, and networked systems

- Experience with Git and modern software development practices
NICE TO HAVE SKILLS
- Experience with robotics perception systems (cameras, LiDAR, IMUs, force/torque sensors)
- Experience validating multi-sensor systems and synchronization pipelines
- Experience with simulation environments such as Isaac Sim, Gazebo, or MuJoCo
- Experience with Hardware-in-the-Loop (HIL) and Software-in-the-Loop (SIL) testing
- Understanding of real-time systems and deterministic communication
- Knowledge of robotics communication protocols such as EtherCAT, CAN, DDS, or OPC-UA
- Experience with performance testing, stress testing, and reliability engineering
- Exposure to cloud-based test infrastructure and large-scale automated validation systems
- Familiarity with safety-related standards and validation processes for robotic systems
