We are looking for an experienced AI DevOps Engineer / GitLab Duo Specialist to help design and build a scalable end-to-end agent chain that bridges Atlassian Rovo and GitLab Duo. The objective is to automate the software delivery lifecycle, from requirements gathering and user story creation in Jira to technical specification, code generation, testing, and merge request creation in GitLab. The engagement focuses on delivering a production-oriented, scalable solution rather than a proof of concept.

Responsibilities:

Design and implement AI-driven GitLab Duo agents that automate software development workflows.Build an intake agent that receives Jira stories and enriches them with context from repositories and documentation.Develop a specification agent that translates Jira requirements into detailed technical specifications, including:

  • Affected components
  • System interfaces
  • Data models
  • Test cases

Create an implementation agent that:

  • Creates development branches
  • Generates code scaffolding
  • Produces initial test cases
  • Executes CI/CD pipelines
  • Opens merge requests with automated summaries

Implement bi-directional communication by writing status updates back to Jira.Establish governance and security guardrails, including:

  • Service accounts
  • Scoped access tokens
  • Protected branches
  • Mandatory code reviews
  • Full audit trails

Create demonstration scenarios and technical documentation.Conduct knowledge transfer sessions for internal stakeholders.Ensure the solution is scalable, maintainable, and suitable for long-term enterprise adoption.

Requirements:

Technical Expertise

  • Strong expertise in GitLab, including:
  • CI/CD pipelines
  • GitLab Runners
  • GitLab APIs
  • Webhooks
  • Permission and access management models
  • Hands-on experience with GitLab Duo, including:
  • Duo Chat
  • Code Suggestions
  • Agentic/Duo Workflows
  • Experience integrating Large Language Models (LLMs) into enterprise workflows.
  • Strong understanding of:
  • Prompt engineering
  • Context provisioning
  • Tool calling
  • Model Context Protocol (MCP)
  • Solid software development experience in at least one of the following languages:
  • Python
  • TypeScript
  • Java
  • Experience designing secure and scalable automation solutions.
