Job description
👋 Hi, I’m Nik — founder of Omi Omi is AI for your real life. Think: wearable memory, voice-first interface, the reverse iPhone. We’ve built a community of 9k people in Discord, shipped devices, and hit 100M+ organic views. Now it’s time to scale our community — fast.
Your job is simple — make Omi the most visible hardware brand in the world. You’ll:
- Build and lead an Ambassador Program (10 core ambassadors, 100+ creators)
- Generate 100+ events per year (mostly hackathons)
- Drive 100+ YouTube videos annually featuring Omi products and apps
- Make Omi show up everywhere — online and IRL
Who You Are
You’ve already done this before. Specifically:
- Built or managed a team of 10+ people
- Organized large-scale events (ideally tech, hardware, or creator focused)
- Can send me proof — links to events, campaigns, or communities you’ve built
- You move fast, think bigger than anyone else in the room, and know how to rally people
If you haven’t led before or can’t show proof of execution — this role is not for you.
Why Join Omi
- Real product. Real users. 100M+ organic views and counting
- Hardware + AI — not vaporware, but something people wear every day
- You’ll define what “community” means for a brand that’s already viral
- Direct access to me — zero bureaucracy, full ownership
We’re building something that people already love — and you’ll make the world love it louder. If you’ve ever thought, “I could build a global movement,” this is your shot.
Why work at Omi
- Culture: “We build, ship, break things (then fix them), and push boundaries” – a fast-moving, founder-led startup in San Francisco. Team is small (~14 people) and highly selective.
- Hiring Philosophy: The fastest way to join is to contribute to the GitHub repo (submit meaningful pull requests). Every current engineer joined this way.
- Perks & Compensation: Roles listed with $200k–$300k salary + 1%–20% equity; in-person in San Francisco; roles include Co-Founder, Founding Engineer, Head of Taste, and Community Lead.
- Mission-Driven: Work on technology that “changes how humans interact with AI forever” – focusing on memory enhancement and brain-computer interfaces.
- Remote / Hybrid: Most full-time roles are in-person in San Francisco; an Ambassador role is remote/part-time.
- Engineering Focus: Emphasis on open-source, hackathons, and bounties; the team uses Flutter, Next.js, Swift, Rust, Python, and firmware (nRF, Zephyr, C).
