About the role

We are hiring an HR Generalist to run HR operations at ether.fi across our four offices, from employment compliance and employee records to payroll, benefits, onboarding and employee engagement.

Our people function is being built now, so you will help shape the policies and processes the company runs on as it scales. You will work closely with Operations, Recruitment, Finance and Legal.

What you’ll do:

Compliance and employment

  • Keep ether.fi compliant with employment law in the Cayman Islands, New York, Colorado and the UAE, working with Legal and external advisers.
  • Prepare and maintain employment contracts and templates for each location, in partnership with Legal and Recruitment.
  • Manage our Employer of Record partner for UAE hires, including visas and moves to Dubai.
  • Keep employee records accurate and give managers and leadership clear reporting on headcount and time away.

Candidate relocation

  • Take over from Recruitment once a candidate accepts, and guide them from offer to first day.
  • Manage work permits and visas, including Cayman work permits and UAE visas through our EOR, and track every document and deadline.
  • Coordinate flights, temporary housing and relocation allowances within the agreed budget, and keep candidates informed at each step.

Onboarding and processes

  • Run onboarding for every new hire and use what we learn to improve it.
  • Document core HR processes as clear, repeatable SOPs so the team works consistently as we grow.

Payroll and benefits

  • Partner with Finance to run US payroll and the 401(k) program, and answer benefits questions for employees in every office.
  • Keep benefits documentation current and look for ways to improve what we offer across all offices.

Engagement and development

  • Run our pulse survey, analyze the results and turn them into actions agreed with leadership.
  • Plan our company off-sites.

Offboarding

  • Run offboarding and exit interviews, and turn what we hear into changes.

What you’ll bring

  • 4+ years in HR or People Operations, including at least 1 year as the main HR operator at a startup or scale-up.
  • Experience with employment law, contracts and benefits in more than one country.
  • Working knowledge of US employment requirements, including payroll, benefits administration and state-level rules.
  • Experience owning an HRIS and building your own reports.
  • Clear writing and the ability to turn a messy process into a simple SOP.
  • Good judgment with confidential and sensitive situations.
  • Comfort working across time zones.

Nice to have

  • Experience in crypto, fintech or another regulated financial business.
  • Experience managing an EOR relationship or sponsoring work visas.
  • Familiarity with Gusto, Betterment, Remote.com or Shapes.
  • A recognized HR qualification such as CIPD or SHRM.
