What You'll Do:

  • Lead and direct a survey crew of two or more team members on a variety of field assignments
  • Perform and oversee boundary, topographic, construction staking, and other survey types
  • Operate survey equipment including robotic total stations, GPS equipment, data collectors, and levels
  • Ensure accuracy and quality of field data, notes, and sketches
  • Make field decisions and provide direction to crew members to ensure efficient project execution
  • Coordinate daily with project managers and office staff to meet project scope, schedule, and quality goals
  • Maintain and transport survey equipment safely and ensure proper operation in the field
  • Communicate project status and field updates regularly

What You Bring:

  • High school diploma or equivalent required
  • 3+ years of experience as a Survey Crew Chief preferred
  • Prior experience conducting boundary and topographic surveys required
  • Experience with ALTA/NSPS Land Title Surveys, construction staking, and Carlson SurvCE preferred
  • Working knowledge of data collectors, robotic total stations, GPS equipment, and digital levels
  • Valid driver’s license required (this position requires driving)
  • Strong math skills and attention to detail
  • Experience preparing detailed field notes and sketches
  • Strong written and verbal communication skills
  • Ability to manage multiple assignments and appropriately prioritize workflow
  • Ability to work a regular schedule of Monday–Thursday 6:30 a.m.–5:30 p.m., with occasional overnight travel

Physical Requirements:

  • Ability to perform strenuous physical activity in a wide range of temperatures and outdoor environments
  • Ability to stand for long periods of time
  • Ability to climb hills and walk long distances across varied terrain
  • Ability to traverse wooded areas, construction sites, and undeveloped land
  • Ability to lift and carry up to 75 pounds
  • Ability to work in environments that may contain venomous snakes and insects such as ticks, red bugs, wasps, bees, hornets, and yellow jackets
  • Ability to communicate effectively both verbally and in writing

Schedule:

A regular schedule of Monday–Thursday 6:30 a.m.–5:30 p.m., plus overtime as needed
