Job description
monday.com is the AI work platform powering the most ambitious teams. 250,000+ customers across departments use us to bring people, workflows, and AI agents together on one flexible platform where AI doesn't just assist, it executes. We move fast, build things that matter, and foster an ownership-driven culture where you're empowered to shape how organizations work and outpace their competition. We are seeking a Senior Illustrator & visual designer to join our growing Product Design Foundation Team (Design Systems). This is an opportunity to bring a new look to our current illustration & product visual language and to future monday products' look & feel. You'll be the person who gives our product a face & a character - empty states, onboarding moments, error screens, celebratory wins, in-app announcements, agents' character concepting - the small visual moments that make complex workflows feel warm & human. You'll be the one building the visual language system at scale & enhancing it with AI, across all monday products used by millions. You'll work closely with Brand Illustrators, Product Designers, Brand Designers, and Content Designers owning the illustration system end to end - from concept to a scalable AI system the whole company can use.
About The Role
- Translate written ideas and strategy into visually articulated storylines
- Build with and improve monday illustration style across a wide range of use cases
- Apply your AI skills & AI tools for concept creation: balancing low-fidelity sketches and high-fidelity illustrations.
- Apply systems & product thinking to product illustrations and codify via illustration guidelines
- Define and differentiate the relationship between illustration and other visual mediums including iconography, photography, and typography.
- Provide art/visual direction encompassing illustration and other 2D and 3D visual artifacts (example: AI agents characters looks & feel).
- Create illustrations & storyboards that will be brought to life through animation.
- Serve as a visual intermediary between product and brand
Requirements
- 4+ years of experience as an illustrator, visual designer, or similar role, with a portfolio that shows range and a distinct style.
- Strong fundamentals: composition, illustration, color, shape language, and visual storytelling.
- Experience designing for digital products, not just standalone artwork — you understand how illustration behaves inside a real interface, at different sizes and states.
- Comfort building and documenting a scalable illustration system (styles, components, usage guidelines).
- Proficiency with tools like Figma, Illustrator, Midjourney, Weavy, or similar; proficiency in AI-assisted illustration workflows at scale.
- Ability to take ambiguous or technical briefs and turn them into clear, simple visual concepts.
