Job description

Our mission is to automate coding. The first step in our journey is to build the best tool for professional programmers, using a combination of inventive research, design, and engineering. Our organization is very flat, and our team is small and talent dense. We particularly like people who are truth-seeking, passionate, and creative. We enjoy spirited debate, crazy ideas, and shipping code.

As a Technical Recruiter at Cursor, you’ll be a key driver of our company growth by identifying, engaging, and hiring top technical talent. You will partner closely with hiring managers and cross-functional teams to understand our hiring needs, design effective recruiting strategies, and deliver an exceptional candidate experience. This is a unique opportunity to join a high-performing team and make a direct impact as we scale our organization.

WHAT YOU’LL DO

  • Own full-cycle recruiting for technical roles, including sourcing, screening, interviewing, feedback management, and offer negotiations
  • Collaborate with hiring managers to develop and execute strategic hiring plans
  • Proactively identify passive candidates through creative sourcing strategies and talent mapping
  • Ensure a world-class candidate experience through every stage of the process
  • Track key recruiting metrics to drive continual process optimization
  • Partner with People Operations and cross-functional teams to support headcount planning and employer branding initiatives
  • Represent Cursor at recruiting events and in the broader tech community

WHO YOU ARE

  • 5+ years of experience recruiting for technical roles, ideally at a high-growth and talent dense high growth startup.
  • A strategic over volume recruiting mindset
  • Deep understanding of technical skills, market trends, and the unique challenges of hiring top engineering and product talent
  • Proven ability to build strong, consultative partnerships with hiring managers and senior leadership
  • Excellent communication, organization, and candidate assessment skills
  • Highly driven, self-starter with a data-driven, results-oriented mindset
  • Comfortable working in an incredibly fast-paced, rapidly scaling environment

BONUS POINTS

  • Experience recruiting for roles in AI, developer tools, or cybersecurity
  • Previous experience with employer branding or diversity recruiting initiatives

LOCATION

This is an in-office role ideally based out of our San Francisco office and secondarily, our NY office.

BENEFITS

  • Competitive salary and equity
  • Comprehensive health, dental, and vision coverage
  • Generous PTO and parental leave
  • Professional development opportunities
  • The opportunity to grow your career and have significant impact at an incredibly ambitious, high-growth company

Why work at Cursor

  • Mission-driven research environment: Cursor describes itself as "an applied research team focused on building the future of software development" — a rare blend of R&D and product engineering
  • Talent density: The company "obsesses over talent to an unusual degree" and designs itself as "a haven for self-motivated individual contributors"
  • Rapid growth trajectory: From 0 to $3B ARR in ~4 years — employees work on products used by millions and see massive scale
  • Compensation: Competitive for AI/engineering talent; top-of-market salaries and equity in a high-valuation private company
  • Work policy: Mix of in-office (San Francisco, New York) and remote roles; many engineering roles are on-site
  • Engineering culture: Two-day on-site final interviews with the core team; no AI tools allowed in first-round coding interviews — they value raw problem-solving
  • Team composition: 579 employees with strong talent density from Stripe, Figma, Notion, Vercel, Graphite, Slack, Rubrik, and Plaid
  • Recent departures to: Anthropic, OpenAI, Google, AWS — alumni are highly sought after
