Neura Robotics at a glance

German cognitive-robotics company building humanoid and collaborative robots that see, hear, feel, and learn to work alongside people.

NEURA Robotics designs cognitive robots (humanoids, collaborative arms, and mobile bases) plus the AI and platform that run them, all built in-house. Its flagship 4NE1 humanoid targets industrial workflows and everyday assistance, and the Neuraverse platform links deployed robots into a shared learning network.

Job description

Join NEURA Robotics and take ownership of system-level testing and verification for 4NE1, our humanoid robot. You will be responsible for ensuring that complex interactions between mechanics, actuators, software, controls, and embedded systems are thoroughly validated before release.

Unlike a traditional electrical or mechanical test role, this position focuses on the overall system behavior, reliability, robustness, and verification strategy of a humanoid robot. You will help establish and continuously improve our testing and quality control methodology, define scalable verification processes, and contribute to the development of internal testing frameworks and infrastructure.

This role is ideal for someone who enjoys building test systems, creating structured validation processes, and translating real-world robot usage into meaningful verification activities.

YOUR MISSION & CHALLENGES

System Validation & Test Strategy

  • Own the overall verification and validation strategy for 4NE1 across component, subsystem, and full-system levels
  • Define and maintain test plans, coverage, acceptance criteria, and release readiness processes
  • Derive test cases from system requirements and ensure traceability throughout the development lifecycle
  • Collaborate with mechanical, software, controls, autonomy, and safety teams to ensure comprehensive system validation
  • Provide objective release recommendations based on test evidence and risk assessments

Quality Control & Test Process Development

  • Design and continuously improve quality control procedures for robot testing during development and production
  • Define scalable test workflows, reporting standards, failure classification schemes, and verification processes
  • Establish testing best practices that can be applied consistently across future platform generations
  • Drive improvements in test efficiency, repeatability, and automation

Test Execution & Failure Analysis

  • Plan and execute functional, endurance, environmental, reliability, and integration testing
  • Validate robotic subsystems such as actuators, joints, gearboxes, sensors, control systems, and complete robot assemblies
  • Perform thermal, endurance, motion, vibration, and robustness testing where applicable
  • Investigate failures and drive root-cause analysis together with development teams
  • Analyze test data and generate actionable recommendations for hardware and software improvements

Test Infrastructure & Automation

  • Build, maintain, and improve test rigs and validation environments
  • Develop automated test procedures and data collection pipelines
  • Contribute to and expand internal test infrastructure, including repositories such as:
  • AwesomeConfig
  • MotionFaster
  • DriveTestBench
  • Support CI/CD-based validation workflows and automated regression testing where applicable
  • Help define the future testing architecture for humanoid robot development and manufacturing

WHAT WE LOOK FORWARD TO

  • Degree in Mechanical Engineering, Mechatronics, Robotics, Systems Engineering, or a related field
  • Several years of experience testing complex mechatronic or robotic systems
  • Experience owning verification, validation, or system testing activities across multiple disciplines
  • Strong understanding of system-level interactions between hardware, actuators, sensors, software, and controls
  • Structured, hands-on, and documentation-driven approach to engineering
  • Ability to move between detailed technical investigations and broader system-level implications
  • Experience testing complex robotic, mechatronic, automotive, aerospace, industrial automation, or similar systems
  • Experience creating test strategies, test plans, and test cases from requirements
  • Root-cause analysis and troubleshooting of multidisciplinary system failures
  • Experience with test automation using Python or similar scripting languages
  • Familiarity with version control systems (Git) and modern development workflows
  • Requirements traceability tools (e.g., Jira, Polarion, DOORS, or similar)
  • Strong cross-functional communication and collaboration skills
  • Hands-on experience with test rigs, instrumentation, data acquisition, or validation environments

NICE TO HAVE SKILLS

  • Experience testing humanoid robots, mobile robots, manipulators, or other complex robotic systems
  • ROS / ROS2 experience
  • Familiarity with actuators, gearboxes, motion control systems, and robotic drivetrains
  • Experience contributing to internal testing frameworks and developer tooling
  • Data analysis using Pandas, Grafana, InfluxDB, or similar tools
  • CI/CD validation pipelines and automated regression testing
  • Simulation environments (Gazebo, Isaac Sim, MATLAB/Simulink, etc.)
  • Functional safety awareness (ISO 13849, IEC 61508, IEC 62061)
  • Environmental, endurance, vibration, or reliability testing experience
  • Basic understanding of embedded systems and communication protocols such as CAN, EtherCAT, or Ethernet
